About Us

Founding and Vision

After establishing the Rosewood Vineyard cultivating Cabernert Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the Saigals continued on their viticultural journey with a passion for producing world-class Pinot Noir that reflects the distinctive terroir of the Anderson Valley. Drawn by the area's renowned cool climate and diverse soil composition, they selected this elevated site to cultivate vines that thrive in such conditions.

The Terroir

Our vineyard's elevation at 1800 feet offers a unique microclimate, characterized by cooler temperatures and significant diurnal temperature variations. These conditions are ideal for Pinot Noir, as they enhance acidity and flavor development. The soil, a mix of loam and fractured sandstone, provides excellent drainage, contributing to the complexity and balance of our wines.

The Vineyard

In our 9.5-acre vineyard, Sanjay and Champa Saigal have carefully planted a selection of Pinot Noir clones, each chosen for its ability to contribute specific qualities to our wines:

  • Dijon Clones: 777, 667, and 115 are known for their aromatic intensity, bright fruit flavors, and balanced acidity.

  • Pommard Clones: PN-91 and PN-90 add depth and structure with their robust, earthy characteristics.

  • Heritage Clones: Mount Eden and Massale Selection bring historical significance and unique flavor profiles, enriching the diversity of our vineyard.

Sustainable Practices

Our commitment to the environment is reflected in our vineyard management practices. We avoid the use of harsh chemicals, opting instead for organic and sustainable methods that protect the health of our vines and the surrounding ecosystem.

Family Commitment

Sanjay and Champa Saigal are deeply involved in every aspect of the vineyard operations. Their hands-on approach ensures that each bottle of wine reflects their unwavering dedication to quality and their respect for the land.
